Spam be Gone

For the time being, I’ve disabled comments on this site. You can email me if you have a comment, and we’ll take it from there.

I resisted this decision for a long time, and believe it to be temporary. I have some extreme deadline pressure for a major project at work and simply don’t have time to shovel out the stables each morning. Not having time to mess with the templates, I took the brute-force approach and simply removed the comment handling script. This will generate an ugly error for real commenters, but the robots won’t notice.

The straw that broke this camel’s back happened today when apparently folks figured out how to bypass MT-Blacklist, my spam filter. Typically, for the kinds of spam that have multiple links to the offending sites, the spam filter traps those messages and though I do have to clean them up, they never appear live on my site. Now, they are slipping in and that’s not acceptable.

Like many bloggers, the mere mention of a certain style of poker, one I won’t even repeat here, is like waving a red cape in front of a bull.
