Stormy Weather

Here are a few pictures we took about an hour ago. We were up on Coronado Heights watching a storm. When we first got there things were pretty quiet and we parked at the southwest corner. Within a few minutes the wind had come up and we decided to move closer to the “castle”.

Did I mention this was the most intense storm I’ve ever seen? It was moving from our right, and heading east towards Lindsborg. We were taking pictures, and then I took a bit of video, and then the roar that one hears about when tornadoes hit seemed upon us and we jumped in our car and left.

We turned north instead of east or south, and soon realized our error. The drive back to town was somewhat terrifying, as visibility was close to zero, the wind was very strong, we saw a few branches on the road and for all we knew we were driving right into a tornado! At that moment we remembered to turn on the radio, and as they were reporting things were quieting down we realized we had past through the worst of the storm.

Came home to no power, but the UPS mostly did their jobs. I’m posting this from my battery powered Powerbook, and the wireless router is still up for a few more minutes.

I plan to post a few images here on the blog, but will likely lose power before I can do that. In the meantime, you can go to Flickr and view my Lindsborg storm photos.

Later … the power is back on.
