Island Dreams?

Displaying both an active imagination and also perhaps trying to wrangle a trip to Hawaii for her and her mom, my grand-daughter Moneka wrote the following as part of her spelling homework. Each of her assigned words is in italics, and while the spelling words aren’t be too hard for a third-grader, I got a real kick out of the creative way she used them in context.

Dear Ms. Sutton,

I am having a great time. This is better that staying home on Sat and Sun. I am near Hawaii. My paper is a little crumbly because it got wet. The coconuts are hard. I could sit here and write sentences all day but I have got to go, the waves are calling me.

Sincerely,

Moneka
