Four Days on the Road

Here is a sample of the photos I took during a recent journey from Lindsborg, Kansas to Palo Alto, California. If you like these, there are more photos available at my Flickr Ks2Ca set.

Kinsley, Kansas, is the home of this sign marking the half-way point between San Francisco and New York City. The state of repair of the nearby train engine suggests that perhaps it’s never going to make it to either destination.

The Yellowhorse trading area is a fun place to stop at the New Mexico and Arizona border. A number of plastic statues of wildlife such as eagles, bears and elk line the top of the cliffs overlooking this must-see stop.

The sunset photo was taken east of Kingman, Arizona.

The 3rd day began with a view of the palms at a desert rest area near Mojave, California, followed by the green hills of Tehachapi Pass.

Signs of whimsy and spring were visible in Paso Robles, California, as evidenced by this cute photo of Sparkle, and the sun-lit public library building.

We drove through Pacific Grove and Elkhorn Slough on the way to Palo Alto and captured egret photos in both locations.
