Spring in California, HDR Style

We recently returned from a combination business and pleasure trip that took us out to northern California. As always, my camera traveled with me.

It was a great visit, with a wonderful week spent with my colleagues in Palo Alto, followed by the Drupalcon conference in San Francisco and concluding with a very nice stay at Lake Tahoe. Sadly, there’s never enough time to visit with all our friends; I think this means we need to stay longer in the future.

During the weekend we drove both north and south, visiting the Monterey Bay area on Saturday (and feasting on an excellent Crab Louie salad at Phil’s in Moss Landing) and driving up a bit past Stinson Beach on Sunday.

The weather was great and I took almost 1700 photos in total (Sheryl added another 300 to the mix). 200 of the photos were taken using the HDR technique of bracketing each photo plus and minus 2 stops. That meant 600 files to deal with, but thanks to Lightroom and good keywording I’ve got things under control.

Below is a sample of the HDR images I’ve processed from the trip. More images are available in my Monterey Bay area, San Francisco and Lake Tahoe Flickr sets.
