Magnuson Campaign Issues

In addition to the number of people who have contacted him there are four basic issues that John Magunson felt needed to be addressed: First being the mayor’s cavalier attitude toward the 1,034 signers of the streetscape petition has been appalling. The mayor has publicly impugned, denigrated and belittled the opponents to his beloved streetscape. … Read more

Occasional Weather Report

No one’s going to be surprised in July when it’s (much) hotter here in Kansas than out in California. On the other hand, no one’s complaining that it’s 64 degrees in Lindsborg at sunset, while out west, 2 hours earlier in the day, it’s only 58 degrees in Palo Alto. Also, thinking about our weather … Read more

Kanopolis in Winter

We took a nice Sunday drive earlier today and headed over to Kanopolis Lake. Located 15 miles west of Lindsborg, it’s a popular recreation spot, though mostly deserted as we expected this time of year. What we didn’t expect was to find that large areas of the lake were frozen over. And if presenting a … Read more

Pond at Sunset

Here’s a picture of a pond northeast of Lindsborg. I took it late last year, near sunset, and forgot about until now. I like both the golden colors and the way the trees are reflected on the water. It’s worth noting that winter trees, lacking their summer greenery, make for interesting photographic subjects.

Sunny and Cold

We saw the sun for the first time in a week today, and with the extremely cold, dry air, everything looked crisp and bright outside. Towards sunset, we once again headed towards Coronado Heights, thankful for the 4-wheel drive capabilities of our vehicle as the road was a bit icy. Did I mention it was … Read more

MarsEdit Test Post; Driving on Icy Roads

I’ve tried a number of blog editors, such as Ecto and a couple of others, and none offered enough value for me to switch away from typing posts directly into the standard MovableType textentry form. Occasionally, I’ll edit using BbEdit, but that’s rare. I’ve been hearing enough about MarsEdit, a new blog editor from the … Read more

Lindsborg Weather Blog

At the risk of turning this into a Lindsborg weather blog, today we’ll take a look at the beauty that results after the cold rain and snow we’ve had the past couple of days. It was miserable out (it took Sheryl twice as long as normal to get to Salina for Adelia’s surgery), but like … Read more

Happy New Year

from Lindsborg, where it’s 61 degrees and the sun is breaking through the clouds. The weather has been unseasonably warm the past few days; records were set a couple of days ago! Meanwhile, back in San Jose, it’s only 47 degrees. I know, I know … we are enjoying it while it lasts.

Icicles in the Sun

This seems an appropriate topic for the first post of December … some photos of the many icicles created as the warm sun melts the snow on the roof. The melted snow drips down and it’s cold enough that the melted water soon freezes again, before it hits the ground. As the dripping of melted … Read more

The Road South

I took this photo a few days ago, and liked it enough to share. It was taken on Coronado Heights, looking towards the south.
