Leaping Deer

Leaping Deer || Canon350d/EF100-400F4-5.6L@400 | 1/800s   | f9.0 |  ISO400 | handheld

I took this photo last May and forgot to post it. We were out at Kanopolis Lake late one afternoon and saw some young deer at the side of the road. We were driving fairly slowly, and it hit me that they were going to cross right in front of us. I certainly didn't expect them to leap! Though the focus is very soft and the image is a bit noisy due to too much sharpening, it's still a cool picture of a relatively uncommon event (first leaping deer I've seen in 50 years)! May 2007.
